Personally I find this idea a little morbid, but it is a topic I have now been asked about by at least a dozen different people. So here it is, a quick and easy way to create a "customised" gravestone in Photoshop ready for All Hallows Eve.
One of the common uses for the "Bevel and Emboss" Layer Style is to use it for producing a carved stone effect such as is seen on gravestones. Now if you want to make your own gravestone for a spooky halloween photograph, then this is the ideal style. First of all find, or make a suitable picture.

Next, add the text you want it to have using the Type tool (press T). Once you have done, make sure the layer is selected, then click on the Blending Options icon in the Layer Palette, then tick "Bevel and Emboss". As it is to start with doesn't really look right as it will start embossed, so click the Direction option labelled "Down". Next, change the technique to "Chisel Hard" and then click OK. Once you've done those simple steps for each lot of text that you need to add, it's done. As simple as that.

One thing I like to do afterwards is to add a very small Outer Glow to it, with about a 35% opacity, and coloured just off-white.
