About New Earth Online

New Earth Online although the name might not suggest it, is an online resource for tutorials for web development, programming, photoshop and reviews of hardware, software, and DVDs.

New Earth Online was first conceived as New Earth Productions all the way back in 1995 and started life as a site for keeping fictional stories set on the world of "New Earth". These stories told the tale of 4 different era's on the planet from it's colonization to it's eventual destruction at the hands of it's own sun. The premise behind these stories was that Sol, our own sun had started to expand as it grew old and had rendered Earth inhabitable, so some of the human population that refused to leave the Sol system made their home on Mars - renaming it New Earth. Eventually as the sun had expanded enough to swallow Mars (by this time christened New Earth) even in it's new orbit an attempt to stop the sun's expansion caused it to explode. The first of these stories set in the fourth era is due to be released in the latter part of 2009 and introduces the character of Olan.

Since it's creation, this site has been redeveloped many times with it's purpose gradually shifting direction each time. Now, as New Earth Online it is a resource for developers and designers with plenty of articles covering topics such as PHP, Photoshop, and Apache. In more recent times I've also started added reviews for DVDs, though to date these are mostly Anime movies (such as those produced by Studio Ghibli) though I intend on reviewing more regular movies too.
