Many organisations in the UK have looked to the BBC for a long time to see how the web should look and feel. Never one to rest on it's laurels, the BBC are now moving forward again - this time all links on the pages that point to external sources now open in a floating DIV so the user doesn't have to leave the page.
I think it's potentially a good idea, but I think their current implementation still has a way to go. You can see it in action on BBC News
