A couple of friends from work have set up a PHP working group for the East Midlands area in England. It's not the first group of this kind in the country, but it does seem to be the first one for the East Midlands.
The aim of PHPEM is get PHP developers from the East Midlands together to create a local PHP community and to get together regularly for PHP-related talks and drinks. The first meeting is yet to happen but we're currently trying to organise it.
It looks like the PHPEM group's first meeting will be on Thursday 23rd July at 19:00 in Leicester, but they don't yet have a venue for this meet up. The aim of the first meeting is for people to introduce themselves and to organise speakers for the next meeting. It is likely that this first meeting will be in one of the local pubs, so it will be a very casual get together where people can talk PHP. I'm going to try and make their first meeting to see what it's like.
