Learning the shortcut keys for a program is always a time saver - especially when it comes to a the schedule of a busy developer or designer. So here is a list of the most used shortcuts for Adobe Flash - also available for download as a PDF.

Basic shortcuts

  • Ctrl-F3 - Show / hide "properties" panel
  • F4 - Hide panels
  • F9 - Show / hide "actions" panel
  • Ctrl-Enter - Test the movie
  • Ctrl-Shift-Enter - Debug the movie
  • M - Select magnifier tool
  • Ctrl-P - Show the preferences menu
  • Ctrl-Alt-Shift-S - Export the movie
  • T - Select text tool
  • V - Select arrow tool

Editing the movie

  • F5 - Add a new frame
  • Shift-F5 - Delete a frame
  • Alt-Delete - Clears the frame(s)
  • Ctrl-Shift-' - Snap to grid
  • Ctrl-Shift-; - Snap to guidelines
  • Ctrl-Alt-C - Copy frame(s)
  • Ctrl-D - Duplicate
  • Ctrl-Shift-F - Auto formats the script
  • Ctrl-R - Import to stage
  • Ctrl-T - Check the syntax of the script
  • Ctrl-Alt-V - Paste frame(s) from the clipboard
  • Ctrl-Alt-X - Cut frame(s)
  • Ctrl-Y - Redo the last undone change
  • Ctrl-Z - Undo the last change
